Efforts Taken by A Malaysian Manpower Agency To Supply Workers During The Pandemic

The current situation of the pandemic indicates the turnover rate in all sectors, especially in the Malaysian manufacturing sector. Therefore, this has resulted in a major fall in terms of the number of workers in this sector. It was reported, due to the pandemic the government had to reduce the number of headcounts into any businesses this is inclusive of the manufacturing industry. Therefore, this has indirectly affected the manufacturers in producing goods and indirectly affects the citizens in receiving the goods. This is one of the largest challenges for a manpower agency in Malaysia. In the efforts to reduce the turnover rate in factories many Malaysian foreign worker agency had to branch out to various other options in providing workers to the factory.

These are some of the efforts taken by a Malaysian foreign worker agency to provide workers for factories.

1. Venturing Into Local Workers Instead Of Foreign Workers

The current situation in Malaysia left manufacturers with no choice due to the closed international borders indicating that there is no entry for any foreign personnel. Therefore, most of the manpower agency Malaysia had taken an approach that is to be acted as an alternative. For instance, venturing into scouting for local workers instead of foreign workers. Factories are needed to be open to hiring local workers. The government of Malaysia encouraged factories and manpower supply agencies to focus more on the recruitment of local workers.

2. Recalibration Service For Existing Foreign Workers Without Permit

The government of Malaysia had reflected upon the demand for foreign workers by manufacturers. Therefore, a new programme of recalibration service was introduced in 2020, in which foreign migrants or workers without a worker’s permit is given the opportunity to apply for a workers permit. In most cases, factories have already accumulated workers, and hands over the documentation procedures and processes to a foreign worker agency in Malaysia to take the charge of handling worker’s permits and any documentation.

3. Extra beneficiary for Local Workers upon Recruitment.

Many workers supply agencies had come up with countless strategies in order to retain the workers. For instance, local workers are provided with several beneficiaries to help them with the current pandemic situation. For instance, workers who may need an advance of their salary or needed to borrow a certain amount of money for personal issues and reasons will be acknowledged and the request will be reviewed by the manpower agency.

In conclusion, these are some of the efforts taken by a manpower agency to provide workers for the factory. Many manpower agencies in Malaysia, are in a constant dilemma on ensuring to deliver the required number of workers within the needed duration, to ensure the production of operations still goes on.
